<<((OOC)) Hey all, and thanks for reading the brand new part of Sador's tale. I am sorry for it taking so long before I continued the story - But the plot took over so much time with the kin, that people were getting too impatient and forgetting to actually play the chars we really are - namely the Knights Of Eriador. In the end I decided to postpone the plot and continuing the story until other RP plots within the Knights Of Eriador were well off. Now we have started to RP this whole plot from the Knights point of view - which will end up with the Knighthood finding the Book Of Moradar - which will contain Sador's accounts - and this will finally shed light over a few happenings as of late, and let the Knighthood understand the motivation behind the cult that hunts them. Sador's tale is starting to come to its end - but when one things ends... another story begins... Hope you enjoy it. Arangilas/Môradar >>

((The story continues directly from the previous part))

The dead marshes...
Sador looks out on the barren lands in front of him... at least what he can see through the fog that lies like a grey and moist carpet over the whole area...

Cold, clammy winters still hold sway in these forsaken lands...
The only green that met Sador's eyes were the scum of livid weed on the dark greasy surfaces of the sullen waters...
Dead grasses and rotting reeds loomed up in the mists like ragged shadows of long forgotten summers...

He was almost on all four... trying to follow the trail of blood...
He was searching for his son... Harthad...
His left leg hurts badly and he almost has to drag it behind him.

"Harthad lad! Can ye hear me?"

He stares silently out into the fog... nothing...
Well.. except that darn bird, still following him from a safe distance...

Sador shakes his fist at it

"I might make a meal out of ye soon, if ye don't leave me be...."

He mutters... almost as if sending the bird a silent curse...

Suddenly something catches his eyes...
A shadow sticking out of the shadow.
A long shape sticking out of the ground with something attached to the top of it.
A long pike... or spear... or short, speared lance even...
With a banner hanging straight down from the still of the air...

Then he notices something else... a body...
The bannered lance is sticking out from the backside of a seemingly lifeless body...

Terror fills his face... a pain fills his chest all of a sudden, and it swirls around his heart - which is beating harder and harder... faster and faster...

"No..."

He utters the small word to himself, almost as if to deny the facts of what his eyes so sadly and horribly confirms to him...
Sador rushes as fast as he can towards the body, ignoring the pain of his injured leg...
His feels his hands clutch around the lance as his anger builds up as a volcano inside.
He pulls the speared lance out and tosses it a few feet away from them, then falls on his knees beside the body of the young man...

"NO!...Not you, Harthad.... not you..."

Sador grabs the lifeless body and turns him around, so the dead son rests his head in the grieving fathers lap... Tears press on but he fights them...

"No...no, no, no, nooo.... This was to be your glorious time, son! It was not supposed to end like this... not like this..."

Sador suddenly realizes he has lost all he had left of a family... his father sacrificing himself for them to escape the mounted knights who were chasing them, and now Harthad... his son...

Sador peers over towards the speared lance, lying on the ground just a few feet away...
He carefully puts the body of his son down, and makes his way over to the weapon.

Sador seems as if in deep thoughts as he inspects the lance carefully...
There are two bands that swirls all the way up to the top where a spearhead rests all red from the blood of Harthad. One band in gold, and one band in red.

At the top, just before the spearhead a banner hangs... He recognizes it immediately...
Four triangles making one larger one, the middle one in black, the others outlined in gold - all on a background of blood red.

Those knights who had chased them... It was THEM!
They had slain his son by piercing him in the back...

COWARDS!

Suddenly he hears wings flap... and sees the crow-like creature landing just by his dead sons body.

"Get away from my son, ye filthy little scavenger!! You will not be feasting on him I can assure you!!"

Sador swings the lance around to scare the bird away from Harthad's dead body.

He suddenly realizes he will not be able to give his son a proper burying...
And that this would mean that Harthad's body would end up as a feast for nearby scavengers.

Over my dead body, he thinks to himself...

He takes a dagger from Harthad's belt, but leaves his sword and his armor for weight.
Sador then drags his son over to the nearest marsh pond.
He looks at him silently for a moment, then carefully lets him slide into the muddy water.

Sador watches his dead son float out a little, before the weight of the armor and the sword slowly drags Harthad under the surface...
